Living Groups
Chapter Fifty Six.

i really don't know how to start this...it's not gonna flow, but i have to post it for the sake of chronology...

Exactly six months ago I posted Living Groups Ch. 2, which dealt with the fact that K'Nish thought that Syn and Sop were an item. K'Nish was not the only one who thought that Sop and Syn made a cute couple, others commented on it from time to time. The problem, you see, was that Sop wasn't really attracted to Syn. Well, okay, so that wasn't the problem, that was just unfortunate. The problem was that Syn was clearly (according to K'Nish and others) attracted to Sop, who was leading a lonely, solitary existance. Sop didn't want to make anything of the situation, not only because it would be wrong, because it would be basically pulling a "Virgin Mary", but also because he feared that any attempt at initiating a relationship would crash and burn and that he would be left without one of his best friends.
It was Syn's getting sick that changed things, without that Sop might have never worked himself into falling for her. Syn woke up one morning to find that one side of her body was completely numb. She went to the hospital and then returned to the dorm and spent a few days lying in bed with a headache, feeling nauseous. Sop visited her in her room and sometimes she came and layed down in his room because his bed is more comfortable. On one such occasion, Syn complained of back pain and Sop hesitantly gave her a back rub. Then he called his parents to ask one of them to bring a heating pad and maybe even some home-cooked food for her. His parents rushed over and his mother, seeing the state which Syn was in, called the hospital and told them that she would be bringing Syn back for more treatement. Sop and his parents helped Syn to the car and put the back seat down so that she could lay down. Syn lay on the ground as they did this but soon had to sit up on account of impending spewage. When she was done, Sop helped her into the car and sat down next to her sprawled-out body. Looking down upon her pain-racked body, Sop felt a swell of emotions. He took her hand in his and prayed for her swift recovery.
Last night, Sop and Syn went to see "Return of the Jedi" (she was feeling much better). Sitting next to her, in the darkness of the movie theater, Sop longed to reach out and once again take her hand in his. (by this time his loneliness has sufficiently motivated him to "fall" for Syn) He moved slowly, at first just grazing her hand with his fingers, then resting his hand atop hers, and finally working up to wrapping his hand about hers as Leia smiled and told Han that Luke was her brother.
